Update #19: ALMOST there!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 11, 2020 at 10:44:25 PM

Hi, guys,

Here we are, on the threshold of the official release of The Hand of Glory that, as you may know, was scheduled for May 12.

You noticed that WAS, didn’t you? Unfortunately, we’re once again forced to delay the release, but slightly this time (especially for you backers)!

The emergency we had to face slowed us down more than expected, hindering each and every communication among us and with other external collaborators that are helping us in this final phase. Many actors were unable to access their recording studios, and we ourselves had the same problems that every one of you is probably facing in this tough – and unpredictable – moment.

So, what’s the status of the development? Despite the adversities, we really did it. The game is complete, the dubbing is implemented, the graphic assets are final. Then why this further delay? The reason is simple: final polishing. We could release the game as expected on May 12, but not having had enough time to eliminate the imperfections which arise during the final phase of development. Just think at the audio mixing, as well as all those little, tricky bugs that mysteriously appear when you’re so close to release.

We really think it would be disrespectful to deliver a game that may be not optimal because of the rush, therefore here’s what we decided.

The FINAL release date for the first part of The Hand of Glory is shifted to June 9, BUT with an important note: all our backers will receive their Steam key as soon as we are sure we eliminated all the major issues, with a maximum delay of one week (and so no later than May 19).

Here's a new gameplay video, in the meantime, showing a dialogue between Inspector Burton and Lars. We're really happy with the quality of our actors!

As always, we trust in your understanding. You supported us throughout, with patience and valuable tips, and we feel obliged to deliver you the best possible product.

We’re almost there!

Update #18: Covid-19 update and new release dates
about 4 years ago – Tue, Mar 31, 2020 at 12:12:06 AM

Hi guys,

It’s been a while since our last update, but as with the rest of you, we got hit by the Covid-19 hurricane and needed a moment to regroup (both personally and professionally speaking).

Let’s start by reassuring you: we’re fine, we’re in lockdown, and despite the difficult times, work on the game continues. That doesn’t mean the pandemic hasn’t imposed hardship on our roadmap, however. The coordination between our departments is more arduous than ever and some of our voice-over artists are having problems getting access to studios, causing some delays in the last part of the dubbing process. For these reasons, we’re forced to push back our official release to the following dates:

  • Part 1: May 12
  • Part 2: September 8

As you can see, we’re confident we’ll be able to limit the delay in a way that – we hope – will be acceptable to you.

But now onto the good news to share what we have been up to since our last update!

Voice acting

We have basically completed all the voice acting for Part 1 and we want to reassure you about the results. Thanks to your contributions, we were able to hire all pro actors who will deliver the quality we promised during the campaign. You will find a diverse cast, passionate about the project, who are giving their best performance in every single line. Over the course of the coming weeks, we will share a few audio snippets on our social media channels, so follow us for an early taste!

For starters, we are delighted to share this great behind-the-scenes video recorded by Matthew Curtis while recording the role of Lars.

Finetuning

While some of us are busy completing the implementation of voices, our graphics department is committed to refining all the visual aspects of The Hand of Glory: scenes, additional assets, and new animations to enrich the game experience even more. This far along in development, we can assure that nearly every action accomplished by our valiant Lars will have a specific animation (our biggest dream).

Here’s a sample for you:

Newsworthy

One of the most successful pledges during the Kickstarter campaign permitted some of you to appear in the game with a dedicated article published by the in-game newspaper, “The Miami Harbinger.” We’re happy to tell you that all articles for Part 1 are completely implemented and absolutely unmissable!

We had a ton of fun imagining our own weird stories and listening to yours (and some of them were REALLY crazy) and we’re thrilled to have added this pledge along the way. We can now unveil one of these articles thanks to our backer Christian, who gladly allows us to publish it.

Part 2

“What about Part 2?” you might ask. And we’d answer: “It’s thriving!” Most of the necessary assets are done or nearly finished, while the authors are refining the script and game design to offer you a rich, varied and passionate adventure experience. Without a doubt, we can promise a very fun conclusion to the game!

…and if you won’t take our word for it, here’s one of the latest scenes to join the party (we have more than 100 scenes in the full game).

That’s a wrap for the March update. We apologize for the slight delay but trust that you can understand the unexpected reasons behind it. But most of all, our team wants to wish you all the good you can experience in this strange, difficult moment in time.

Stay home, stay safe (and play many videogames)!

Update #17: Release date and new format announced
over 4 years ago – Thu, Jan 23, 2020 at 02:51:29 AM

ENGLISH

Hi guys! Today we want to update you  with  a few news  announcements about  the game release and its format. Let’s start with the latter: after long thought, we have reached the decision to split the game into two parts. This decision is to be considered  purely authorial, with no other reasons than narrative ones.  We  just feel that what happens  at the midpoint of the game is too intense to be  treated  as a simple cut-scene that links one scenario to another. We want you to dwell on it for a while and assimilate instead of rushing towards the conclusion of the journey. Therefore, the “episodic” division will remain even when Part 2 is released, just like you’re watching two seasons of a TV show.

We are fully aware that many players don’t like to play in “parts,” but this is how we feel The Hand of Glory is best experienced. Of course you are welcome  to wait and “binge” both parts together, as it’s totally up to you, but our suggestion is to pause before playing Part 2. It certainly  won’t  be a short trip anyway: our testers took 6 to 8 hours just to finish Part 1, and you should add another few hours if you want to see all the achievements and  Easter eggs we have planned.

I hope you all can understand our decision and come to embrace it for the reason intended – trust us, it’s better this way.

The wait won't be too long,  as  the new schedule for the two parts of the game  is as follows:

Now the good bit: Part 1 is  complete! We’re adding voices right now and then it’s just a matter of testing and tweaking the audio. The April 14 release date is locked and a sure bet: we’ll start sending out keys for the beta version to the backers  who subscribed to that particular tier pretty soon (probably end of January). We’re very happy with how the game is shaping up and can’t wait to hear your feedback!

As always, we’re very open to suggestions, idea, insults (:D) – so hit the comments section if you have any questions or doubts. We’ll  be happy to reply.

To the next update!

ITALIANO:

Ciao a tutti!

A presto!

Update #15: BackerKit survey incoming!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 18, 2019 at 02:58:30 PM

Hi guys,

we have been silent for a while on the surveys to find the best solution (for us and especially for you, backers!). In the end, we decided to use BackerKit!

The pre-order store looks cool!

The surveys will be sent in a few days to your email address! You don't need to create a BackerKit account, you just have to click on the link, fill it out and you're good! Again, the survey WILL BE SENT TO YOUR EMAIL, so you don't have to answer here. Of course we will be in touch for any kind of problem or questions, so don't be shy and ask if you need anything!

That's all for now, but we'll be back with an update next week to show you some new game stuff!
